Another expression that is found to describe the last days is “the time of the end.” Daniel 12:9 (ASV). Daniel 12:4 reads, “And he said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed til the time of the end (ASV). Verse 9 reads “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
Isaiah’s description is similar (Isaiah 59:19-21). Neither prophet describes the time reference as “the end of time” but “the time of the end.” In addition, nowhere does the Bible speak of the “end of time.” II Peter 3 is a description of the judgment mentioned by Peter in 1 Peter 4:7-19. He had written, “the end of all things is at hand,” (verse 7). It is the time of the end. He spoke of “the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you,” (verse 12). He spoke of the “revelation of his (Jesus’) glory,” (verse 13). Jesus had already told his disciples, including Peter that He would be coming in glory and for judgment “while some of them were still alive” (Matthew 16:27-28). It reads, “But For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds. Verily I say unto you, there are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.”
