The Kingdom Reign and the Last Enemy: Death

by Tim Glover in 1 Corinthians, Death0 Comments

Admittedly, the resurrection is not easy for a person of mortality to comprehend, fully. This writing may need to be revised or recanted if further study leads to another conclusion. Anyone who arrogantly digs his or her heels in the ground and makes no effort to re-think and investigate previous conclusions have allowed pride to hinder their understanding. Lovers of truth continue to study and search for that which may have eluded them in the past. At present, 1 Corinthians 15 represents another description of this same reward of the faithful, the resurrection. Paul writes in verses 24-26,

“Then comes the end when he shall deliver the kingdom to God and Father when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death.” (1 Cor. 15:24-26)

This corresponds to Revelation 20 after the description of the Great White throne scene. After the final defeat of Satan, he and death and hades are thrown into the lake of fire, forever. While he has the keys of death and hades and has given his people the promise of resurrection life, death is still an unavoidable fact of reality. The day will come, however, when it will no longer be experienced.
