White, the color of righteousness and purity, characterizes this great throne. The judgments given from this throne are only fair and right. The judge will offer a just recompense of reward (Heb. 2:2-4), reaping what has been sown (Gal. 6:7-8). There is no respect of persons with him (cf. Rom. 2:11) or anything covered up that will not be revealed (cf. Lk. 12:2). In addition, there is no higher court to which one may appeal. He is the Most High God (cf. Dan. 4:2, 35), the Almighty (Rev. 1:8).
The first heaven and earth flee from the face of their creator as they no longer serve His purpose. The new heaven and earth serve His purpose as their eternal abode. The dead to be judged “on the docket” are not those in the first judgment. They are the “rest of the dead” of Revelation 20:5 who lived not until the thousand years are finished. This judgment includes all remaining people and the dead since the first cleansing of the threshing floor. It includes the great and the small, rich ad poor, Jews and gentiles, bond and free, men and women. The sea gave up the dead and death and hades gave up the dead that was in them and they were all judged according to their works (cf. 2 Cor. 5:10). If anyone was not found in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
Death and hades were also cast into the lake of fire. This place of the dead is not the same as the lake of fire, or eternal torment. It’s Sheol, the place where dead spirits are consigned. It is appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgment (Heb. 9:27). To this day, we experience sickness and death. This judgment, however, will end the existence of death and hades.
