We serve a living God who has no beginning and will have no end. He is eternal and everlasting. In Hebrew, His name is El Olam—the everlasting God. Why should we find peace and comfort in serving God, who has no end? We know not only is He faithful in keeping His promises, but also He is able to keep them—for He will have no end. We are told that “one day is as a thousand years” to God (2 Peter 3:8), and while we wait for things to happen in His time, we can draw great comfort in knowing He is beyond time. 1 Timothy 1:17 reads, “To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
The name El Olam is used four times in Scripture: (1) First time is Genesis 21:22-34 (2) Psalm 90:1-4. (3) Psalm 93:1-2. (4) Isaiah 26:4. The fact of his eternal nature should give us hope and great comfort because if he promises an eternal kingdom, He is able to accomplish it.
