If one remembers that the Revelation of Jesus Christ dealt with things that “must shortly come to pass” (Rev. 1:1) or was “at hand,” then, we are not surprised that when Jesus speaks of His coming, he says, “I come quickly” (Rev. 22:7, 20). The comfort and assurance of the book entail the victorious hope of the saints, who not only have their blood avenged, but will be rewarded at His coming to reign with Him.
Of of the images that depict this reward is the marriage of the Lamb. His coming is referenced as a Bridegroom coming (Revelation 19:6-16). On His wedding garment, a name is written that reads, “King of kings, and Lord of lords” (19:16).
The king’s marriage to Israel, His bride, is reflected in Psalm 45. It is a beautiful description of His desire to have a queen standing at his own right hand to give Him honor and reverence by representing a love for truth and righteousness. They would raise daughters who would rise to be a blessing to all nations. Ezekiel depicts Jehovah finding Israel as a baby girl abandoned to die in the field. He had compassion and washed her, anointed her, and covered her nakedness. He nurtured, clothed her in fine linen, decked her with ornaments, and groomed her into a beautiful woman. He entered a covenant with her and she became His very own bride (Ezekiel 16:1-14). Verse 14 explains that the majesty he had put upon her was such that all the nations knew of her perfect beauty.
