Romans 13:14 reads, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

Colossians 3:9-10 reads, “lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, that is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him.”

Galatians 3:27 reads, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ.”

Putting on Christ is a choice that unites oneself with Christ by conforming to His image (Rom. 8:28-30). Jesus is the firstborn among many brethren (Rom. 8:29) and He wants to share the glory so that many sons could be brought unto glory (Heb. 2:10-ff). According to Romans 6, this process begins with the way we deal with sin. The old man must die with His deeds. The new man is the work of God in creating in us a child after the image of His only begotten son. This creation, however, is always a work in progress. We are always pressing, perfecting holiness, and transforming ourselves by the renewing of the mind.
