1. In Malachi 2:11-16, Jehovah once loved and was married to Jerusalem (old Jerusalem, Ezek. 16:1-8).   If he hates divorce and treachery in marriage, what compelled him to destroy the city he once loved?   Answer:  Her covenant breach, not His.   When Jerusalem finally exhausted his longsuffering, His wrath was poured out,  devouring everything it touched  (Isa. 30:33).  Compare Rev. 16:4-7; 19:1-2
  2. Celebrating the Kings Marriage Ps. 45
  3. In Ezekiel 16:1-14,  Jehovah’s married a poor broken, and homeless girl.  After elevating her to queen with all the blessings lavished upon her, she became unfaithful.   He hoped to find Jerusalem to be a queen at his right hand to reflect His own glory and virtue.  But, she was a whore whose lewdness became proverbial (16:15-43).  This is a reference to foreign gods and idolatrous practice of their neighbors (Lev. 18:21; 10:1-5; 1 Kings 11:7; 2 Kgs. 23:10; Jer. 32:35)
  4. Jehovah’s judgment was carried out in A.D. 70 when it was stoned and utterly burned with fire (Rev. 18:4-10; cf. 16:4-7, 21; 17:16-18; 18:24; Luke 13:33-35; Matt. 23:29-36).
