I was taught that the miraculous powers of the Holy Spirit began at the first part of the last days but would end at the cross when the Old Law was nailed to it (Col. 2:14).   I was conditioned to think that the Mosaic age was replaced by the Christian Age when Christ started the church on Pentecost,  This “Christian Age” is a fabrication of man that is dependent on the “end” and the “last days” is the end of life here on planet earth.    Looking at the Scriptures, the only age that follows the Mosaic is described as the “new heavens and new earth wherein dwells righteousness.”   It results in the victory of Christ over Satan, his judgment against physical Israel, and his reward for the saints, all of which can be summed up as the restoration of God’s people.   Furthermore, if this so-called “Christian Age” is defined by Christ’s rule, then, it is an age that has no end.   Yet, it is admitted that the Christian Age has an end.

The law was passing away because it had served its purpose to accentuate the sinfulness of man while pointing to the one man child that the nation had produced to reconcile man and who was the fulfillment of the law and prophets.   All pointed to Him and he has come upon the scene of life in those days to restore man to Himself.   No words can adequately express the wonder and joy of it all!   Peter writes of the “new heaven and earth” wherein dwells righteousness.  It would replace the one that Peter lived in and is described by him as “the heavens that now are” (2 Peter 3:7).   It would describe an age wherein Jesus would reign as Lord of Lords and King of kings.
