Satanic Counterfeits

Matthew 13:24-30 is a warning to the first-century Christians from Jesus that the Devil plants false brethren. Verse 24 begins, “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.” When the weeds came up with the wheat, the owner knew that an enemy had done it. When his servants asked if he wanted them pulled up, he says, “Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.” Beside the truth, there are lies. Next to God’s people, there are human institutions and organizations. On one hand, we have divine relation. On the other hand, we see human tradition and every perverse way.

Most of us are unaware of the lies we believe. They have become accepted as the truth for many years. We keep telling the same stories and misapplying the same texts of Scripture and our human denominations give us the comfort and support that it’s all good.

Now, you might think that this is no big concern because it’s not what we know that is important but who we know. But, let me remind you of Paul’s statement to Timothy in the second chapter of the second letter. He told him that God sends a strong delusion to those who love not the truth that they might be damned. I’d say this is an important issue and requires vigilance and a keen eye to decipher the real thing from the fake.
